
A Malaysian citizenship can be obtained either by registration or by naturalization. Bear in mind that no dual citizenship is allowed, therefore one must forgo the prior nationality.
Foreigner, with no Malaysian origins or whatsoever, one can obtain Malaysian citizenship via naturalization.
Application Criteria
- Above 21 years old
- Resided in Malaysia for more than 10 years of 12 years period immediately preceding the date of the application
- Adequate knowledge of Malay language
Documents Required
- Application Form C
- Identification Card
- Birth Certificate
- Entry Permit
- Identification Cards of two (2) Malaysian recommenders
- Other documents from spouse / children (if any)
This is applicable to a person already a citizen by law but has yet to be registered. This applies to persons who were either born outside of Malaysia or within Malaysia provided at least one parent was Malaysian at the time of birth.
